Kleinfelds.

Jacob, Emile, Krista and myself are making the trek back to NYC this summer to really experience the city... when our boogers aren't frozen to the inside of our noses. When we went for New Years last year, it was phenomenal. There was way too much to see in just 5 days. We didn't even get to see the Statue of Liberty! So we've decided to go back, take a roadtrip in one of our vehicles and head down, maybe check out some sights along the way.

With us actually being able to plan our agendas ahead of time, I've decided to make an appointment to go check out wedding dresses at Kleinfelds. Whether I'll actually get an appointment is questionable, but as far as I can see on the site, if you book at least 4 months ahead you'll have a 1.5 hour slot when you want during the day. I realize this is probably not going to help my budget, but I want to go in and see if they can at least help me narrow down what it is I want in a dress.

Here are a few under 3 grand (ouch) that I like from the site:

Thoughts? They don't tell you the prices on their site, you have to go in and look.
What do you think the chances of one of their amazing clearance sales happening when I'm around are? :S

Tentative wedding colours = picked!

The peachy colour is getting switched out for ivory to match my dress. The bridesmaids dresses will be the purple colour, the sashes on them orange (SO HAPPY I got orange worked in there somewhere) and yeah, ivory for Kim's. That's about all we got accomplished yesterday, and now it's time to shop!

Typewriters are cool, right?

Am I going crazy? Maybe.

But I found this idea in one of my wedding magazines: Setting up a typewriter for guests to give us their well-wishes on. It'd be a neat keep-sake that I could put in one of those aluminum tube thingies and take out every few years to re-read for nostalgic reasons.

Ha, I just thought about how you could gauge how the night goes on by the amount of curse words and typos on the paper afterwards... Sweet.

Teapot centerpieces.

Teapot centerpieces.
No, I'm not crazy. Jacob and I both love this idea.

Being from the Souris area, I grew up being called a tea slurper, or a biscuit eater. My family drinks tea like it's going out of style. What better way to commemorate something that's been a huge part of the MacDonald/Robertson/Gallant way of life than to have vintage looking teapots as centerpieces? I'm not sure what to put in them. Flowers? Maybe a plant?

The idea is to put one as a centerpiece at each table, then stick a ticket underneath one seat. Whoever has a ticket underneath their seat gets to take home the centerpiece. I'm also thinking that they do not all have to be the same.

What do you think?
A few examples of what I mean.

wedding vlogs.

Here's a little vlog with some wedding stuff tucked in the middle, starting at around 3:30 or 3:45 or so if you don't want to watch us talk about fondant for minutes at a time.

So yes, that means I GOT MY FLIP CAMCORDER! WOOO!
I really really like it. I can't wait to take it wedding shopping with me! :)

Wedding planners and the Flip HD.

I love gift certificates to Indigo.
I could easily spend a day in a bookstore without even buying anything; just browsing all the different sections, seeing all the weird books that actually get published.

Anyways, I entered indigo with a specific kind of book in mind: I wanted a wedding planner. This is what I left with:

I'm without a camera for awhile, so the pictures are from a webcam.
This is how thick this thing is (and a kitten that wouldn't get out of the shot)
It's got a million tabs and lists and places to put pieces of paper and it just overall seems amazing. I can't wait to contribute to it. Plus, it'll be a great keepsake after the wedding.

I also made a purchase online yesterday. I FINALLY just ordered what I've been looking at for months and months, and I can't wait for it to arrive:

It's a Flip Ultra HD camcorder. It's the same size as a regular digital camera, but it shoots high definition video so I can FINALLY capture this time in my life in a fun way. I can't wait to look back at the home movies in a few years and be embarassed at what I was wearing.

Anyways, the camcorder means that there'll not only be a wedding blog, but probably a wedding vlog (For my aunts: vlog stands for video blog, haha). I'm super excited to start shooting! Now if only I didn't have to wait until sometime between the 14th and the 19th for it to arrive...
